E Design | Setting the Tone

Virtual interior design mood board featuring layered neutral furnishings, European-inspired interiors, textured materials, sculptural lighting, and a warm, collected aesthetic.

If you read the recent post Why Mood Boards Matter — this feeds into the same idea — when we're dreaming, planning or setting out to design any aspect of our lives, figure out what you want it to look like. Sounds so simple I know ;) At the start of an edesign project I'll take your questionnaire, current space and style direction and pull together a visual that starts a direction. Concepts are born by pulling together pieces that feel good and feel right together. It's framework that is specific to each project and space. We're all individual in our style and hopes and there's not a straight forward map to follow, and that's what makes the process so fun. I love to come up with concepts and directions, and I love to share them ( with you, the client ).

This above concept /mood board sets the tone for a living space that is layered, quiet and intentional. A mix of both light warm tones with some moody expression. Collected pieces, some old, some new compliment each other and lead to a space that feels lived in and warm. Curating intentional pieces to achieve effortless restraint.

There is so much you can pull from a concept and so many ways to approach it. Looking past the exact specific details ( although those are good too! ), take in the overall mood, color story and energy. This has a foundation of key furnishings, intentionally chosen and placed decor to balance and anchor and a little charm mixed in. Structure and clean lines mixed with some angles and comfort. It feels good doesn't it?

We can take what you have and love and curate a direction and energy for your space — I love to approach the early stages of an edesign with options — and once you love the initial direction it's from there we settle into pulling the whole space together. You won’t be surprised at the finish line by something you don’t love, because I’m intentional about including you and establishing the style, tone and direction from the very beginning — and then adding thoughtful moments of surprise as we build your space.
