An Afternoon In Leipers Fork, TN

I've had on my mind to pull together an itinerary from our trip to Nashville last August, but it all felt a little overwhelming to tackle all at once. After posting this past week about Buck Mason in 12 South here we are nearly 6 months later and it's time to start jotting it all down!

Leipers Fork. There are two towns just outside of Nashville that we visited, Franklin and Leipers Fork. If you have rented a car and have the time — put them both on the must visit list. They are night and day different and both have exceptional charm.

We took a route from Nashville to Leipers Fork that first took us to Southall Farm & Inn which is technically considered Franklin, but they are all quite close together. I came across the Farm & Inn while searching the area and knew it was a spot I wanted to experience and visit. The property is beautiful and authentic farm to table. Let's also put a stay at the Inn on the life travel bucket list, it's a destination where you would spend your days exploring the grounds, taking in the outdoors and lounging by the pool — a stay that you would want to check in and not leave the property. It's exceptional. It reminded me of staying at Solage in Napa Valley, the same kind of attention to detail where you drive into another world that has been curated for the traveller experience. With a seasonal menu and a lovely interior, we started our day with lunch at Soujourner.

After lunch a drive through the most idyllic countryside complete with amazing property stalking that I guarantee will have you wanting to move to TN, you'll see the iconic vintage police car parked on the side of the road and you'll know you've reached Leipers Fork. I was grateful that we were visiting on a weekday at the end of summer as parking was very easy and we were able to wander in and out of the local shops without crowds. I have a feeling it's a bit of a different experience during peak times.

We started at one end of the main street, choosing the Crown Winery Tasting Room as our first stop — why wouldn't you start with a wine tasting in the creek? It's so cool. The winery itself is in Humboldt TN, with a tasting room on the main street in Leipers Fork. The tasting room is full of historic charm and is perched above Leipers Creek. You're encouraged to enjoy your visit, nothing is rushed. It was a fun coincidence when we stopped in that the owner of the winery, Scott Fallert was dropping off supplies and talked us through the offerings and their story and set us up for our visit.

The shaded property invites you to take your wine tasting outside where they offer Adirondack chairs that are easy to move to a spot of your choice. We took ours right down to the creek, the water was very low when we visited so we were literally on the creek bed.

Design lovers will love the shops in town, Patina Home & Garden is the most beautiful wander, Dwell and Den is a forest inspired shop that is so thoughtfully curated and unique, and a little down the road you'll find the tiny but very cool Tennessee Turquoise Company — it's owned by Morgane Stapleton, singer, songwriter and married to Chris Stapleton —

Be sure to wander out back of Dwell and Den — I can't even describe the landscape. We were actually in awe, it looks like you're in a painting and is so ( can I use the word again? ) Idyllic — :)

With Leipers Fork being the first post about travelling to Nashville, I'll pop back and link the posts that are coming —
