Loving this cottage designed by McCarthy Hinder Interior Design.
Project Details from their website //
MH designed a small guest cottage situated on several acres for a family of three. The owners kept a keen eye on cost, simplicity, and quality, and continue to build a legacy for their family. In development are a design and yoga studio, a plan within a plan!
Carrie and Tanja were mindful of each selection, from the shingles to the patio stone, making sure they naturally tie in with the surrounding. The patio stone, which came from a quarry on the island, was carefully dry-stacked by a local tradesman and graduate in sculpture from Emily Carr University. This cottage is a true West Coast labour of love.
Speed is secondary, patience and the right design is primary. This resourceful family recycles materials and produces clever solutions, supporting the local trades and shops is part of the journey. The challenge is combining the high/low. The home is fully equipped with state of the art smart home solutions, high-end appliances and custom-made furniture and lighting fixtures. On the contrary, the minimalistic one-bedroom home with open-plan kitchen and living area is designed to bring the family closer. It’s not about a large space – it’s about the right space.
